Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Lwowski is one of the leading experts on banking and insolvency law. He is particularly characterized by the combination of science with practice, including as a professor and lecturer at the Universities of Hamburg, Lüneburg and Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, as well as his work as head of the Central Legal Department of Commerzbank in Hamburg.
He applied his legal experience in numerous academic works, including collaborations with judges of the Federal Court of Justice, in standard works such as the Bankrechtshandbuch (Banking Law Handbook), the Recht der Kreditsicherung (Law of Credit Protection) and the Münchener Kommentar zur Insolvenzordnung (Munich Commentary on the Insolvency Code).
Numerous advisory board memberships in professional journals, such as Wertpapiermitteilungen (WM) and Neue Zeitschrift für Insolvenzrecht (NZI) served the exchange with case law, science and practice. His collaboration on the draft of a Chinese law on leasing and on the draft of a European law on credit protection deserve special mention.
